The Science Behind Our Ancient Connection to the Moon

We often dismiss our grandmother's wisdom about the moon's influence as folklore, but modern science is revealing profound truths our ancestors knew intuitively.

Recent peer-reviewed studies show that human sleep patterns, cortical activity, and even hormone levels sync with lunar phases under controlled laboratory conditions. We carry within us what researchers call "circalunar rhythms" – biological cycles that mirror the moon's 29.5-day journey.

This isn't mystical thinking; it's molecular reality. The same evolutionary forces that gave us circadian rhythms – our 24-hour internal clocks that respond to light and darkness – also embedded us with longer natural cycles. Our bodies literally evolved to dance with celestial rhythms.

But here's what the research reveals about modern life: when we disconnect from these natural patterns, our wellbeing suffers. Disrupted circadian rhythms are strongly linked to depression, anxiety, and other nervous system disorders. We've traded our birthright of natural alignment for artificial light and arbitrary schedules.

As an Ancient Pathway Guide working in lunar alchemy and women's healing circles, I witness daily how returning to nature's rhythms restores what our deep selves have been craving – a sense of belonging to something larger than ourselves.

The moon doesn't just light our nights; it calls us home to rhythms older than civilization itself.

**New Moon Lunar Alchemy happens today, Saturday 23rd August at 3:30pm Eastern Time (8:30pm London). Be a part of this intimate group.** https://lnkd.in/e6mXNTPx

What natural rhythms do you feel most disconnected from in modern life? I would love to read and/or hear your responses - email me or share when you attend the next Lunar Alchemy circle.
